How to Apply FOR A MEDICAL STUDENT ROTATION

UPDATED 04/14/2021 INFORMATION IN REFERENCE TO COVID-19:

Thank you for your interest in the Emergency Medicine Clerkship at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia/ Prisma Health Richland. We understand that COVID-19 continues to impact medical student clerkships nationwide even as we approach the 2021-2022 academic year.

At this time, The UofSC School of Medicine Columbia and Prisma Health Richland will accept applications for visiting students in accordance with the AAMC/COPA recommendations, which can be found here AAMC Visiting Student Recommendations

Consistent with these recommendations, beginning April 15, 2021, Prisma Health Richland (formerly Palmetto Health) and the UofSC School of Medicine Columbia will accept visiting students for away rotations under the following circumstances:

1. The student is an EM-bound M-4 student from a US medical school (MD or DO). If the student has the opportunity for a home institution EM rotation within an academic EM residency program, this should be the student's ONLY scheduled away rotation. We will accept these students for rotations beginning July 5 or later.

2. If the student does not have a home rotation opportunity within an academic EM department or within an EM residency program, this can serve as one of two allowable rotations for the student.

We will provide students with an EM program SLOE in time for inclusion in their ERAS application.

Offers will be made and must be accepted via VSAS/VSLO.
