Ultrasound of the Week # 14 Case History

"The case of the enlarged shoulder..."

The resident returned to the bedside to reexamine the patient and noted:

Severe swelling about the deltoid area, slightly fluctuant in nature.
Passive range of motion of the shoulder was possible.
Severe pain was elicited with active ROM at the shoulder.
The arm was distally neurovascularly intact.

What else could you do to assess the shoulder? I bet you could guess...
